PlanetPlay in Davos: Games are making green moves at the World Economic Forum

PlanetPlay is in Davos this week for the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting (January 19-23, 2026) and we’re bringing a clear message: games can be a force for real-world impact!

Our Chief Strategy Officer, Jude Ower, is on the ground across the week, taking part in sessions at the Goals House and a series of satellite events, panels and meetings.

A standout moment will be SYBO’s bespoke Davos incarnation of its ever-popular mobile game Subway Surfers as part of the activities at the Goals House, which is a convening platform that seeks to address critical issues such as peace and security, climate change, global health, gender equality, technological innovation.

Goals House guests will be invited to step into an hour-long play slot: compete for high scores, collect as many coins as possible, and help generate real-world impact.

Every coin collected will contribute to tree planting in Southeast Asia via PlanetPlay. In the midst of all the high-level discussions, it’s a practical reminder that play can be a catalyst, and that small actions, multiplied by millions of players, can add up to meaningful change beyond the screen.

Alongside the activation, the conversation will continue through the Good Game Club podcast, launching during Davos week. Hosts Jude and SYBO CEO Mathias Gredal Norvig will be exploring how games can be a positive force for good and how brands, NGOs and policymakers can collaborate with the sector in credible, outcomes-led ways.

Jude will also be participating in the UnDavos Summit on Wednesday, joining a panel exploring Esports x Mental Health. Later the same day, PlanetPlay will be at the Climate Hub’s Green Up Box for on-the-ground soundbites and recording with partners and peers including SYBO, CleanPlay, Games for Change, and Tencent, focused on the future of green games and how collaboration can scale impact.

Across the week, Jude will also attend key networking events, including gatherings hosted by major media and industry leaders and sessions at the Goals House covering topics such across technology, culture and sustainability.

Davos is where unlikely coalitions form quickly. PlanetPlay is there to make sure games are part of those coalitions, helping partners turn ambition into action, at speed and at scale.

We’ll be delivering a full round up of everything that happened during the week, so stay tuned for that!
