I’m here to tell you what’s drawn my attention to this charming seaside town and why I’m desperately ready to clock in on August 21st, when the game launches. <h2>Opening Day, The start of your Journey</h2>Your aunt sets you up with a humble-looking shop and your new daily routine: wake up at 6am, organise shelves, stock goods, and then flip that little ‘OPEN’ sign to start the day. It’s a tiny detail, but one that instantly grounds you in the role.From there, the loop feels entirely fresh, yet familiar. After hours is where Discounty shows you how lively its world is. With a whole range of vibrating palettes, places to explore and the quirky townsfolk who, with time, shift from strangers to regulars and, occasionally, even to partners in business! There are also some mysteries to be found in this town.The demo teases this with just enough intrigue, like showing you a locked door you’re desperate to peek behind.Once the shop is shut, you’ll have time to wander Blomkest’s streets, strike up conversations with the locals and grow your relationships with them. You can even forge trade deals with manufacturers and suppliers, fueling tomorrow’s shelves.Morning strolls before opening are just as important! The wording for the genre comes from ‘Rogue’ a 1980 dungeon crawler known for the above gameplay characteristics. It was a simple, text-based, and brutally difficult experience, but it introduced a gameplay loop that stuck: die, learn, try again.Over the years, the genre grew with games like Binding of Isaac, Spelunky and, more recently, Slay the Spire which modernized it by bringing action, card strategy implementation with an added focus on storytelling. You explore the mansion one room at a time by choosing from a selection of randomized room blueprints and placing them on a 9x5 grid. Your goal? Reach the 46th room. Run out of doors to open before then and your attempt is over. Along the way however, you will unlock new rooms, relics and even be rewarded with escalating difficulty tiers.&nbsp;While exploring Mt. What starts off as just another day with the clang of pipes, the smell of diesel, and a round of banter with his tight‑knit team, quickly becomes a nightmare.&nbsp;&nbsp;Initially, a seemingly routine drilling glitch sets everything in motion, taking you on a journey to the depths of the oil rig where the radios hiss, metal pipes creak, and familiar walkways warp into a labyrinth of rust and seawater. You’ll hear screws ping, see the saltwater dimming your torch and sense the platform tilt beneath your boots. Be prepared to cross claustrophobic corridors, storm-lashed exterior walkways and the occasional gore scene that visually resembles ‘The Thing’.Beira D isn’t just claustrophobic, it’s alive.<h3>Sound and Performance</h3>Still Wakes the Deep’s audio is exceptional, with every sound and creak emerging at the perfect moment as you explore, making it a central part of the experience. And as any horror game connoisseur will agree, the genre lives or dies by its soundscape.The voice acting with the authentic Scottish accents turns this into a very genuine piece, with the crewmates being such an important part of your journey – and you becoming more attached to each one of them with every passing hour.<h3>Visual Storytelling</h3>Utilising Unreal Engine 5, Still Wakes the Deep shows a beautifully crafted world, with an attention to detail that rewards exploration.The oil rig feels massive and each cabin, room or new zone complements the story and world-building. Environmental storytelling and tension-filled pacing amplify the sense of dread and urgency.<h3>Gameplay &amp; Mechanics</h3>Think Firewatch in full panic. Yes, it’s guided. The streamlined path keeps the dread unrelenting; you’re funneled down tight corridors, but the narrative stakes drag you ever deeper.The game also features stealth-based encounters.
